Bad manners

For the record, I will not countenance being called names in comments. I reserve the right to delete anything rude or abusive. I believe in the freedom of speech but I also believe that your mother raised you better.

Believe it or not, I do not actually have time to keep abreast of all the restaurant regulations on water restrictions. So sorry about that. I have been too busy straining my pasta water into a bucket so I can water my plants.

Oh, I went to Watts Grocery for dinner, and they asked me if I would like some water. I asked about it, and the waiter said, "Well basically I asked you to tell me you would like some water," wink, smile, and I got my water.

It is somewhat worrisome that arm-chair commentators get worked up about a posting on a food blog. This is supposed to be *FUN* and if it isn't then, please, find something that makes you smile. Or better yet, get out of your chair and do some good for the world.

Please don't be too irritated...There are others out there (like myself) that enjoy and appreciate your blog.

Well, if they weren't anonymous, you could link to them from some sort of web page that said "Free Kiddie Pr0n!" or the like. :) Barring that, I think you'll just have to curse at them under your breath: cursing back at them on your blog will probably just encourage them. Personally, I advocate cursing, but I realize it's not for everyone. :)

It should be pointed out that before you post your opinions, that you actually know more about what you are talking. You go out to eat, then run home to your computer to skewer local restaurants. These people who run these restaurants are hardworking people who put all of their money, passions and efforts into their endeavor, and they are constantly at the mercy of "foodie bloggers" who have nothing better to do than slam restaurants. In your case, it is much worse because you, as you have admitted, knew nothing about what you were writing. Why write a negatively about a place that is trying to adhere to the social norms put in place by their peers? Perhaps if you amounted to more than just someone chained to their computer who loves to run around and "tattle" on people who actually WORK at what you profess to do, it would not be so infuriating when you infest others with your misinformed opinions.

NYNC, thanks for replying and not calling me an idiot again. You seem very defensive and emotional. I wonder who you are: a waiter, the manager, a chef? Come clean and don't be hiding under the cloak of being anonymous.

I said I didn't have time to keep up w/ the details of water restrictions on local business. Just because you don't agreee doesn't mean I don't know good food and good service.

You'll find if you actually read my blog that I have a lot of good things to say about the restaurant scene. No place is perfect, including Watts Grocery.

Heh. I developed a bad habit in college. In what is probably counter-productive and a waste of time, I treat these comments like target practice for honing my invective skills.

As a blogger, I thought you knew that you were simultaneously ignorant and irrelevant but also all-powerful and a force to be feared? Such is the awesome power of a slightly specialized web page!!!

In response to nync, don't you have something better to do than slam bloggers? And obviously you don't know what you're talking about if you think kelly is "someone chained to their computer who loves to run around and "tattle" on people who actually WORK at what you profess to do." Although she herself is modest, I believe her knowledge of food, dining and proper restaurant etiquette would put a few professionals to shame. Not knowing about the water restrictions takes nothing away from that. Maybe you should think twice before "infesting others with your misinformed opinions."

And, if a restaurant wants to conserve water, it’s fine not to put glasses on the table automatically. But the staff should ask if anyone wants water, not wait for a customer to ask. As someone who has worked in customer service for years, I can tell you that’s basic courtesy. Water restrictions don’t excuse people from providing good service.

I randomly came across your blog months ago and read it weekly. I appreciate everything you type up and comment on. If people are posting crappy stuff, just delete it and move along. We can't escape from the Walmart types...
