The best greasy burger

In a hurry and craving a greasy burger, I stopped at the drive-thru chain Cookout in Graham, NC, off of I-85. My hairdresser recommended Cookout for a burger and shake fix. I'd never been so I figured I'd give it a try since it had to be better than Burger King or Mickey D's, the only other options I could see off of the highway. There is one in Durham on Roxboro Road.

I ordered a bacon, cheddar burger with grilled onions and a peach shake. The burger actually looked like real hamburger. It was slightly pink. Grilled onions and bacon make everything better! It was great for a fast food burger! I cannot wait to go back to try the burger with chili.

Cookout also features milkshakes in many flavors. I opted for the peach shake. What a great thing to do with frozen peaches! YUM!

Next time I will try the fries with cajun seasoning.

Cookout has the nicest people working there. There are locations on Roxboro St and on Miami Blvd in Durham.

I believe there's another Cookout on Roxboro Road just south of Horton. It's near North Duke Mall -- The Mall That Time Forgot. :)

I hope you're voting in my poll. ;)

yep cookout way out on roxboro rd.

the conundrum with cooukout is, you want to get to someplace where you can actually sit and eat the thing without getting its drippy greasiness all over you...

but by the time you get anywhere, the greasy grippy goodness has essentially caused the bun to disintegrate into nothing.

out west burger is my fave...as well as, believe it or not, the grilled cajun chicken.

onion rings...

There is also one on Hillsboro Rd in Durham, just past the 15/501 exit.
Just up the road from that (going towards 9th st) is Wimpy's Grill - another great burger joint, although like Cookout there's no place to sit. They have great biscuits in the AM as well.
Five guys in Southpoint mall is not bad either, tho I often just go there for the fries.

I believe a thread of comments like this is why Eat At Joe's is doing a burger contest/poll. I'm tempted to try Wimpies but I'm never over in that section of town when it is open. Char-Grill wasn't bad and was like a Cook-out. There is one coming to the eyesore that is Hope Valley Commons. Also rumored is a Dunkin' Donuts. Intersection of 751 and 54

I work close to the one on Hillsborough Rd., but I've never been there. Now that I know about their peach shakes, I'll have to check it out!

Mmm. Cookout! Starting in July they also serve Watermelon shakes. Yes, it sounds strange. Yes, you should get one - it's delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
