Queen of Sheba re-opening!

It's been a long 18 months in the Triangle without Ethiopian food! The Queen of Sheba closed in 2007 after a developer bought the old location and tore it down to build condos one block from Franklin St.

Happily the owner has found a new location on Weaver Dairy Rd. The grand opening of Sheba will be in November 1. I cannot wait. This is the best news I've heard in a long time!

Isn't the proprietor the wife/owner of the former Blue Nile on Lakewood in Durm?

Ready to welcome an Ethiopian restaurant (again)!

Yes there is a connection though I thought she was the owner.. she may very well have been the wife of the owner.

As far as I know, the owner of Sheba is the ex-wife of the owner of Blue Nile. She was the talent behind that operation. When she left Blue Nile, the kitchen went down hill and it eventually closed. There is probably a lesson in there about how to treat a wife you depend on for a successful business...

I went to Sheba once while it was in downtown Chapel Hill. I don't recall if the menu has changed in offerings or prices. I do remember about 4 of us eating from the injera and leaving feeling like I wanted more for the money. The food was good though or at least a good first experience with African food.

I usually leave any Ethiopian restaurant so stuffed that I vow never to eat again. I like to start with buticha and sambusa then have the vegetarian sampler as the main course.
